The workshops are titled ‘Teachers Training Education Workshop’.
The first day-long workshop on Effective Teaching was attended by 55 primary class male and female teachers from five Pakistani schools across the country.
Riaz Farooq Sahi, president of the association, told Khaleej Times that a number of upper class Pakistani families do not send their children to these schools because of their reservations about the standard of education.
“Therefore, we decided to conduct teachers training courses to update their teaching skills,” he said.
Samina Nasir, education and personal development secretary of the association, said the first workshop was conducted by Faiza Fiza, a renowned educationist and teacher trainer.
Faiza advised teachers on how to accept and deal with all types of students in the class – students with behavioural problems, weak students, and indiscipline among students.
“Our aim is to update teachers to international standards and to improve the quality of education,” she said.
Some of the teachers were new while some others had attended such a workshop for the first time in 15 years, Samina said. The second workshop on how to develop good English communication skills among students will be conducted by Shahid Warsi, a Pakistan-based educationist.
“We, as teachers, have to sharpen our tools to keep pace with the fast moving modern world,” Samina said.
