Workshop on strategies to preserve wild animals in Arab peninsula

The workshop which will continue until February 22 is organised by the Environment and Protected Areas Authority at the Arab Peninsula Centre at Sahara Park in Sharjah. More than 80 experts in the field of environment and wild animals from various Arab countries including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan and Yemen are participating in the workshop.

Addressing the event, Abdul Aziz Al Midfa, Director General of EPPA said that the Ruler of Sharjah gave priority to addressing the issues of wild animals not just in the UAE but in all parts of the Arab peninsula. As part of this, specialised centres have been established to launch programmes and activities that would contribute to preserving the wild life and environment. Scientific researches as well as plans to develop the methods of preserving the micro organisms and biodiversities were also part of the agenda.

Al Midfa added that the workshop, which has become part of important international and regional conferences, aims at launching cooperative strategies to help preserve the wild life and develop the fungal life in the region.
