Addressing graduates at an impressive convocation ceremony held at the National Theatre, he said the occasion bears testimony to the success of the mission of HCT and its commitment to the cause of education. "We appreciate the fruitful relations between HCT and all institutions and organisations, as well as the constant endeavour to keep abreast of the latest technological advances in a rapidly changing world," he said.

In this context, he referred to the E-ducation Conference held in the capital recently and paid tributes to the initiatives taken by students at the HCT. The 1,402 men graduates were presented certificates on the occasion by Shaikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE.

Another batch of 2,528 women graduates will receive their degree certificates at the same venue today from Her Highness Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Wife of the President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and Chairperson of the UAE Women's Federation. With this, a total of 15,500 men and women students have graduated from the HCT.

Shaikh Sultan said Shaikh Zayed's historic leadership has laid the foundation for progress through science and industry. He pointed out that the UAE society is not a male dominated one, but one in which women today occupy jobs and even enter the scientific and medical sectors. He described the batch passing out as a valuable addition to the country's comprehensive development drive. "You have fulfilled the requirements of the academic programmes successfully and earned the qualifications through diligence and dedication, that will stand you in good stead to face the challenges ahead," Shaikh Nahyan added, while asking the graduates to dedicate themselves to serve the community and contribute to the growth and development of the country. Shaikh Nahyan said the progress achieved by the pioneering institution has been the result of unstinting support and guidance provided by Shaikh Zayed and the Rulers of the emirates.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Abdul Rahman Al Mazem said that they are now embarking on a new journey to serve the country by placing values on education, work and unity. "Our role models are the previous batches of HCT graduates, employed in the private and public sectors, who have proved themselves in jobs as well as on the social and cultural fronts," he said.
