Woman seeks divorce from husband in UAE after cheating charge

Dubai - The husband made her pay for the rent and daughter's daily expenses.

An Arab woman has sought divorce from her husband after he accused her of cheating on him. The man suspected she was having an illicit relation with her lover to whom she made calls at untimely hours.
The woman said that her husband also harboured envy against her as her salary was more than his, local media reported.
Despite earning Dh45,000 a month, the husband made her pay for the rent and daily expenses incurred on their two-month-old daughter, the woman alleged. He even took advantage of his wife's goodwill and had her buy him a new car, and paid for it from her salary.
The couple had been married for only a year.
Initially, the wife did not take up the issue seriously, hoping it would resolve itself. However, when it escalated, the woman had to take a legal recourse.
Her lawyer Al Al Khaja said that the nature of the wife's work requires her to respond to phone calls round-the-clock as she works with people from other time zones. However, the husband accused her of having a lover and contacting him at night under the guise of work.
