Police said it was apparently a suicide attempt as she was facing some family problems.
Nourah Mella Mubarak, 24, who lives in Mamourah with her parents, went to the beach on Tuesday on the pretext of going to enjoy a stroll along the beach.
One of the local residents noticed her going to the extreme end of the beach and entering the waters.
He saw her going further into the sea and alerted the police.
A senior officer from Mamourah police said they were alerted about Mubarak’s moves by a resident. The police rushed to the area with Civil Defence personnel who jumped into the sea and rescued her.
He said her condition was serious when she was shifted to Saif Hospital in Nakheel. Doctors at the hospital told Khaleej Times that Mubarak’s condition has improved but she is still in the intensive care unit.
