Defence counsel Mohammed Al Shaiba requested the panel of judges to give his client, A.A., bail arguing that she is six months pregnant and has a toddler to take care of.

A.A., 25, has been in police detention for about three months for possessing 0.20 gram of heroin and eight pills of a mind-altering substance. According to the statement of a police officer, the Anti-Narcotics Unit of the Dubai Police received information that A.A. was using drugs. On March 18 this year, the police searched her residence in Mizher area near Mirdiff and seized the pills of a mind-altering substance and a roll of heroin. Traces of heroin were also found on three tablespoons and a cigarette box.

The urine sample of A.A. also tested positive for drug use.
