She was caught at the Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3 on her way from Sao Paulo in Brazil to Nairobi in Kenya. According to a source in the Anti-Narcotic Unit, the defendant was arrested on the basis of an alert that she had boarded a flight carrying a large amount of drugs.

As she got down at the airport, a woman officer who frisked her found a packet wrapped with duct tape and taped around her abdomen. As much as 312 grams of cocaine were found in the packet. Another two packets containing 676 grams and 60 grams of cocaine were found in her underwear. The source said officers noticed that the woman was not walking normally and on checking her shoes, 1.068kg of cocaine was found.

During interrogation, the suspect said she was asked by a person in her country to carry the packets. She never met him but got to know him over the phone. He offered her what he called a business deal under which she would be given two-way flight tickets, hotel charges and $2,000 in return for delivering the packets in Nairobi.
