Why the exclusive parking rules in DMC

THE next time you go to Dubai Media City for a longish appointment, be prepared to find a ticket sticking out of your windshield declaring that you would have to pay a fine of Dh100 for exceeding the parking time limit. Admittedly, Dubai Media City is an exclusive zone, but does that mean the rules for parking should also differ from other parts of Dubai?

Of late, parking lot attendants in DMC have been instructing car owners not to leave their vehicles in the parking lot for more than the stipulated two hours, failing which it would attract the penalty for violation of rules.

DMC, as everyone will agree, is a beehive of activity, and most people visiting the place for meetings and appointment require more than two hours to complete their work. Under such circumstances, are they expected to cut short their meetings half-way through and rush to the parking lot?

Wouldn't it be logical for the parking attendants to stick tickets on cars which have overshot the two hour limit so that the owner can pay the balance on return? The authorities should reconsider this rule, and ensure that people visiting DMC are not hassled by such trivial issues.
