Welcome step

THE decision to exempt those who use public transport from paying the entry fees to the Global Village is a welcome step. It will indeed encourage the use of the mass mode of transport.

The move will reduce the reliance on private cars. It will subsequently help alleviate traffic jams in all parts of the emirate.

But the question is whether the Dubai Municipality will become an example to be emulated if it approves a plan for group transport of its employees?

This, if sanctioned and followed by other ministries, would certainly result in alleviating the congestion and traffic snarls on the main streets and roads heading out of the emirate.
