According to Abdullah Raffia, Assistant Director-General of Dubai Municipality for Environment and Public Health Affairs and Head of the Conference Organising Committee, the web site provides detailed information on the event.

The web site lists objectives of the conference, its themes and topics, targeted audience, conference content and participation, he said.

“Our aim behind launching this web site is to update prospective participants of the conference as well as everyone interested on the issues to be discussed in the conference. We also provide them with the programmes and schedule of the conference, information about previous conferences, hotel reservation details and registration forms for the prospective participants,” Raffia said.

To be held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, the conference is aimed at highlighting the problems that face children and youth in urban areas of the MENA region, especially in the fields of education, culture and recreation.

Some of the main objectives of the event involve raising awareness of high ranking municipal officials to the needs of children and youth, and the importance of urgently addressing those needs through multi-sectoral strategies; highlighting key priority education sector issues pertaining to children, with focus on effective approaches for reaching the most vulnerable and disadvantaged, and the specific roles for local government and municipalities.
