"I congratulate you on this occasion. I also congratulate you for the confidence bestowed upon you by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, under whose leadership we shall all serve as one team. We will serve as one team for the welfare and progress of our country and ensure that our citizens live in decent living conditions. We will further ensure that employment opportunities are provided for the youth through realistic and well-studied plans aimed at realising our socio-economic development goals," said Shaikh Mohammed in remarks shortly after the oath-taking ceremony.

Shaikh Mohammed said: "Our country has made massive strides in various spheres of socio-economic development. It has also played and continues to play a prominent role regionally and globally, thanks to the judicious and balanced policies that were laid down by the late Shaikh Zayed, and which are currently upheld by His Highness President Shaikh Khalifa."

"As officials and ministers, we should develop ourselves in every way and try to keep abreast with this age so as to provide quality services to our people. We also ought to reinforce Arab and international standing of our country," he said.

"In fact, we should not stress this any further because patriotism means that citizens should act spontaneously when serving their country. Allegiance to the leadership and the country is also a characteristic of patriotism. Patriotism also means self-denial, seriousness and dedication," said Shaikh Mohammed.
