Accompanied by Deputy Ruler of Dubai Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and senior officials, Shaikh toured various pavilions of the exhibition where he was briefed by exhibitors from public and private sectors on the job opportunities they can offer to national jobseekers.

Shaikh Mohammed assured graduates that the local labour market has the capacity to accommodate all specialisations and offer opportunities for young men and woman to join the national productivity process economically, socially, culturally and technologically.

Shaikh Mohammed urged the graduates he met during his tour to match and boost their knowledge with experience so we can have productive, well-educated and experienced generation.

“What is the use of education if the man doesn’t benefit himself first and then his homeland,” he asked.

“Time will not wait for us ...we have to exploit every hour in work and creativity… we have to seize every opportunity which comes only one time,“ he added.

The show has registered over 31 per cent growth in gross exhibition space to reach 13,200 sq meters, with the number of exhibitors touching 215.

The Careers UAE 2008 is hosted by Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) from 15-17 April at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC). The 8th annual event is organised in partnership with the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (TANMIA), Emirates Nationals Development Programme (ENDP), Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University and UAE University.

The job fair will also provide critical support to professionals seeking to better their prospects and reach their next career goalpost.

Careers UAE 2008 will allow young UAE national graduates to gauge employment trends through direct interactions with CEOs and HR managers from the most dynamic companies in varied industry sectors.

In coordination with the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders, Careers UAE 2008 will host, for the first time, the Young Entrepreneurs Competition. A three-day programme, the initiative will see students from various academic institutions competing to market their products in an intensely challenging environment.

The UAE youth will also receive exposure to a number of specialised training programmes on career advancement techniques. In addition, a series of workshops that are held on the sidelines of the job fair will spotlight employment, recruitment and human resource development issues. Led by professional training managers, the workshops have no fee attached to them and have proved highly popular features at the previous editions of Careers UAE.

Careers UAE is a high-caliber event that enables talented UAE nationals in all fields to meet directly with recruiters and hiring managers from top employers. It also exposes job seekers to various training, career and learning opportunities.
