Speaking to this reporter over the phone from their new residence at one of the hotels in Seattle, the students, most of whom are studying business management, said they were perfectly okay.

“It’s good that we left San Diego where we were exposed to heavy smoke and pollution resulting from the fires. We are all fine,” said Abdullah Al Nuaimi, a third year student of business administration. “The UAE Embassy brought us to the hotel here and paid all the expenses,” he added.

Meanwhile, speaking to Khaleej Times, the mother of Al Nuaimi praised the swift response of the UAE Embassy in Washington in evacuating the UAE students to safety. She also lauded the ‘Noor Dubai’ live radio programme, and its presenter Rashid Al Kharji, for keeping all informed about the well-being of the students in the wake of the outbreak of the fire.
