Watchman jailed for indecent act

On March 11 this year, a six-year-old Jordanian girl J. H. told her father that while she was playing with her friend in front of the building in the park area in Jebel Ali, the watchman Hassan took her to the backside of the building, removed his trousers and showed her his under garment.

The girl said she screamed and ran away to inform her father who contacted the police.

The accused was referred to the Nayef Police station. During court hearing, the watchman said he was performing his cleaning duties when the girl had pulled him from the back.

This had resulted in his trousers falling down. He had only been trying to fasten it properly, he claimed.

Building fire: A huge fire erupted in an under construction building in the Al Ghusais area yesterday. The operation room of the Dubai Civil Defence received information at 3pm in this regard. The Civil Defence fire-fighters rushed to the site and managed to put out the fire within an hour. No casualties were reported. The authority concerned will investigate the cause of the fire.
