The death toll from the storm which struck central and eastern Europe last week rose to 24 and some areas are still under threat from rising waters
This was announced yesterday at a Press conference attended by Robert Flynn, General Manager of Cinestar Cinemas, who said: "Through the promotion we will raise additional funds required for the ‘Help us reach them in time’ campaign organised by the MSF.”
Fouad Ismael, Executive Director of MSF in the UAE, said that the MSF is offering a supportive assisting hand to more than 38 million refugees in various countries who were forced to leave their home lands and are living in very harsh conditions.
“We are delighted that Cinestar cinemas have chosen to donate funds for our organisation. We will allocate the donated money to providing better health services to more people in the world whose lives are jeopardised.”
Flynn noted that during the promotion, Cinestar would be airing a short video clip about the plight of the suffering people in Darfur in Sudan who are being helped by the MSF.
“Through the humanitarian promotion we aim at supporting the less fortunate who are deprived of their basic needs and rights in life. We are pleased to be working with the MSF to accomplish their noble missions," he said hoping that cinema-goers would contribute positively to the noble cause by attending movies.
