The Mena region’s fintech landscape is booming, with over 800 start-ups worth $15.5 billion
American sprinter, Noah Lyles, 22, who made headlines for breaking Usain Bolt's 200 meter world record at the 2020 Inspiration Games in Zurich, discovered he ran only 185 meters due to a blunder by organizers.
Lyles thought he created history by sprinting the 200 meter race in an unbelievable 18.90 seconds, beating Bolt's 19.19 set in 2009. But fame was short-lived for Lyles as he discovered that he was placed in the wrong track lane which was short by 15 meters, reported Sky News.
Former British Olympic middle distance runner, Steve Cram, who was commentating for the BBC, had expressed his disbelief when it was announced that Lyles had beaten world legend Bolt's record. Cram was heard saying: "That cannot be right, can it?!"
After the blunder, a disheartened Lyles took to Twitter to express his annoyance and wrote: "You can't be playing with my emotions like this. Got me in the wrong lane."
The socially-distanced Inspiration Games had 28 athletes connected by a live video and timing link. The athletes were divided into three teams taking part in eight events in seven different venues with Lyles being the only athlete on the track in Bradenton, Florida. A split screen showed Lyles, racing for Team North America, making quick work of Team Europe's Christophe Lemaitre in Zurich and Team World's Churandy Martina in Papendal.
