Uplift of poor Kannadigas urged

DUBAI — The Bearys Cultural Forum, under the patronage of the Indian Islamic Centre, Dubai, conducted the World Beary Sammelana and Chammana 2006 convention in Dubai recently. The event, attended by professionals from the Bearys (a Muslim community hailing from the coastal parts of the state of Karnataka in India) ethnic group in the UAE shared their professional excellence and achievements among the Bearys who attended at large.

Renowned officials from the UAE shared their views and interacted with the Beary ethnic group. The convention was presided over by Indian Ambassador to the UAE, C. M. Bhandari, while Y. K. Sinha, Consul-General of India in Dubai was the guest of honour.

Dr B. K Yusuf, President of the Bearys Cultural Forum, emphasised on the education of the poor masses of the Beary people, while Zafarullah Khan, Chief Adviser of the Beary Cultural Forum and Managing Director of the Zain Group of Hotels, urged for collective action among the people of Karnataka to work hand-in-hand for the uplift of poor people.

Further, Khan stated the need to develop the innovativeness and creativity of the Beary people.
