An officer at the Al Madina police station said the incident happened early Friday morning.

“The deceased, who was drunk, fell when he tried to climb into his Russian girlfriend‘s balcony on the fourth floor using a TV cable,” he said.

The officer, who asked not to be named, said the man had evidently tried rappelling down after she failed to answer his call and open the door. Regrettably, the cable could not take his weight and yielded.

Investigation reveals the man was in a relationship with the Russian woman, who said she was drunk and had no clue that her boyfriend was trying to get into her apartment, till the police knocked on her door. A passerby saw the body on the ground and reported it to the police. A search of the accident site led to the recovery of the snapped TV receiver cord that descended from the antenna on the terrace to the balcony. He is believed to have tried calling her before taking the unusual route and meeting with a tragic end.

The body was handed over to the family on Sunday and funeral took place the same day. His family is in state of shock
