UNRWA hails UAE's assistance for Palestinians

ABU DHABI - Peter Hansen, Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), praised the UAE's support for its programmes in Palestine.

Hansen, who paid a visit to the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) premises, and met Sanaa Darwish Al Kutbi, the RCS Secretary-General, lauded the RCS continuous humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.

During the meeting, they discussed work progress on the reconstruction of the one million dollar project of the Palestinian camp of Jenin, which is sponsored by the RCS. He said that the 500 housing units project includes basic services installations in the education, health, and social sectors, noting to the role of the project in alleviating sufferings of the Palestinian homeless families.

Sanaa Al Kutbi confirmed that the RCS projects in Palestine constitute top priority of its humanitarian operations and praised cooperation between the RCS and UNRWA in the humanitarian field especially the reconstruction of Jenin camp as the two sides are working together hardly. She also expressed the RCS' readiness to exert more efforts to consolidate cooperation with UNRWA.
