Unique mini car collection on show

DUBAI — A unique and rare collection of miniature cars by avid collector Suhail Mohammed Al Zarooni had been put on display at the Mall of the Emirates as part of the ‘The Collectors’ exhibition for the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS). The exhibition closed yesterday. Al Zarooni, who was once featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the world’s most number of miniature cars, has been utilising all his spare time and free space to keep his collection in its best condition.

“I had stopped collecting for some time. Then in 1998 my brothers Faisal, Hilal and Ayoub encouraged me to rekindle my interest in the car collection. Their support lifted my spirits tremendously and motivated me. Soon, I had collected 1,600 cars when I secured a place for the first time in The Guinness Book of World Records in 2002. In a year, I had acquired another 2,000 cars and held on to the Guinness Record in 2003,” Al Zarooni said.

Today, he has more than 6,500 miniature cars in his collection, which included the British Royal History specials. In The Collectors, Al Zarooni had arranged for an exclusive collection of cars like Bugatti, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Hummer, and Mercedes. He also put on display other rare collections of stamps, pottery, watches, and artifacts on the late Princess Diana.
