The world's first anti-tank unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) and the first one to have a precise, powerful 30mm cannon were both showcased at the International Defence Exhibition (Idex) in Abu Dhabi.
Milrem Robotics is exhibiting its weaponised unmanned ground systems at the biggest defence event in the Middle East, which ended on Thursday.
The company, together with its industry partners MBDA, Electro Optic Systems and ST Engineering and Nexter, is also showcasing a light 12.7mm machine gun system, complemented with a 40mm grenade launcher and one UGV with a 20mm turret.
All systems are integrated onto Milrem Robotics' THeMIS UGV.
"The THeMIS is the 'Swiss army knife' of ground robots with so many different usage options. Thanks to this, it has piqued the interest of several countries in Europe and the Middle East," said Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics.
The unmanned warfare systems developer Milrem Robotics had the widest selection of weaponised unamanned ground systems on display at this year's Idex.
"The high amount of integration projects demonstrates that over the past few years, the THeMIS has truly strengthened its positions as the industry-standard UGV," said Gen Riho Terras, president of the defence division at the firm.
Last year, four THeMIS UGVs were tested in the UK during the warfighting experiment of Nato soldiers. The three-week experiment had become an example for similar programmes.
