According to Eng. AbdulRedha AbulHassan, Acting Director of the General Projects Department at the Municipality, the designs are expected to be ready by October 2004 and the works will begin the same month.

He noted that the park would consist of all types of greenery and landscaping. The central piazza would consist of a water fountain, surrounded by shaded sitting areas, he said, adding that the main walkway would split the park into two separate sections.

According to Mr AbulHassan, there will be two dedicated playgrounds for children of various age groups, as well as basketball, volleyball and football courts. Two separate services building will also be built for both male and female visitors to the park. Given the expected demand on joggers and exercise walkers, a dedicated track will be built inside the park. “We have also taken into consideration the requirements of people of special needs,” he added.
