Shaikh Marwan bin Rashid Al Mualla, Chairman of the Umm Al Quwain Department of Lands and Properties, has issued an administrative decree to that effect, in line with the directives of Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Mualla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Quwain.

In a statement, Shaikh Marwan said the decision was in appreciation of the noble deeds of the UAE founder. He said the Shaikh Zayed Town, which lies on the Al Etihad Road, covers a total area of about 45 million square feet. The town, which has the capacity to accommodate 15,000 people, has all the amenities and infrastructure of a modern town.

Shaikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Town, Shaikh Marwan pointed out, covers an area of about 41 million square feet and has the capacity for 12,000 people. He said nationals are being offered new plots of land for residential purposes in the town, adding that a road in the Umm Al Quwain emirate had also been named after Shaikh Maktoum to honour the former vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for his great and selfless work to develop the UAE federation and ensure the progress of the nation.
