UAE takes part at Pakistan Friends Group Forum

Islamabad - The UAE has taken part at the Pakistan Friends Group Forum, which was held in Pakistani capital, Islamabad, and attended by representatives of 12 countries.

The UAE was represented by Ambassador Ali Mohammed Al Shamsi, UAE special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who chaired the meeting in the presence of Richard Holbrooke, US special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Pakistani FM said his country cannot fight nor defeat the terrorism alone without international support, citing the economic, exportation and foreign investment repercussions of combating terrorism on his country.

He said that his country lost $43billion over the last nine months and 2, 550 soldiers killed in the military operations launched by the terrorists.

Al Shamsi met the Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik. They discussed the bilateral relations, regional and international issues of common interest. The Pakistani minister said the UAE has pledged its support to Pakistan.
