The delegation also inspected the condition of various projects to help develop and improve the programmes which the RCS has implemented there.

The delegation inaugurated the final phase of the Emirate Orphanage project in Stul city in South Thailand.

The orphanage is one of the major projects carried out for Thai orphans. Currently, 500 orphans have been sponsored who are living with their guardians.

Some 80 orphans are living permanently in the orphanage, according to Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Director of the Projects and Development at the RCS. The building consists of a big library, a hall for computer lessons, a study hall, rooms for supervisors and teachers, and a playground.

The delegation also inaugurated the mosque of Bakhita Awad Al Musallami in the state of Nakun Sri Tamarat, South Thailand.

It has the capacity to accommodate 220 persons. The mosque has great importance for the people of the area. It is a religious forum and a cultural centre. Many courses for teaching Arabic and computer, and memorising the Holy Quran are held there.

The mosque also hosts social events, including wedding ceremonies, Al Mahmoud added.

The delegation also laid the foundation stone for the mosque of the late Aisha, South Thailand, which is also financed by some UAE philanthropists. It will be attached to an education centre that will provide services to 2, 000 persons.

The delegation also discussed the necessary procedures to set up a social centre for orphans during a visit to the Society of Social Care in Bangkok.
