UAE-RC to provide relief to Sudan flood victims

ABU DHABI — A delegation of the UAE Red Crescent (UAE-RC) will soon fly to Sudan to deliver urgent relief supplies to the victims of flash floods that have hit several parts of the country.

Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, UAE-RC board chairman, said the assistance to Sudan was being provided as per the instructions of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and follow up of Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and UAE-RC chairman.

The assistance to be provided by the UAE-RC will include foodstuff, medical supplies and tents for the affected population.

“We have completed our preparations for the relief programme in Sudan. We have been closely monitoring the flash floods situation there,” said Al Suweidi.
