UAE is a member in the committee, which consists of 21 member States in UNESCO, and serves as the current Vice Chairman of the Conference.

The UAE delegation is headed by Mohammed Khamis Al Muhairi, Director-General of the National Council of Tourism and Antiquities and consists of a group of world heritage experts and professionals from various emirates.

Al Muhairi said that apart from joining the World Heritage Committee in its discussions and deliberations, UAE’s participation will also create an opportunity to project the role of the National Council of Tourism and Antiquities in the promotion of UAE’s tourism regionally and globally.

The Council’s role in the protection of monuments and getting it registered on the World Heritage List will also be highlighted during the meetings, Al Muhairi added.
