Ghobash, who is on a four-day visit to India, also held discussions with the state Labour Minister, Danam Nagender and other officials at a luncheon meeting hosted in honour of the visiting delegation from the UAE. The discussion centred around the recruitment process and welfare of the Indian labour force working in the UAE, particularly those from the state.

Later, the delegation visited the Overseas Manpower Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (OMCAP) at the Migration Resource Centre. “Gobash evinced keen interest on the functioning of OMCAP which was explained to the delegation,” OMCAP General Manager Dr K V Swamy told Khaleej Times.

Dr Swamy said the delegation was informed about the services that the corporation offers to prospective candidates including walk-in counselling, pre-departure orientation, helpline and other ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ applicable in the host country.

“The visiting minister said his country would extend all assistance required in the manpower recruitment process. He also sought inputs on the expectations from our side,” he said, adding that Ghobash also hinted at the possible setting up of a system to ensure workers’ welfare in the UAE. news@khaleejtimes.com
