The talks, attended by Kerala ministers of labour, industry, transport and IT as well as MPs and senior state officials, explored prospects of joint cooperation in labour-related issues between the UAE and India.

The UAE minister described GCC-India relations as long-standing and historic, saying his visit to India had produced positive results building on the accumulative assets of joint cooperation.

On his part, the Kerala chief minister said Ghobash’s trip to India was aimed at developing mechanisms of work relations, adding that the UAE laws and regulations along with tireless efforts being exerted by the Ministry of Labour would definitely improve efficiency of the labour market.

He said he was proud of the level of good bonds between the UAE and India as he viewed the UAE as a neighbour with whom “we share sustained cooperation”.

He said that one million out of the 1.7 million Indian workers toiling in the UAE hail from Kerala and they enjoy good treatment and security, noting that he himself sensed that during his several visits to the emirates.

“I’m confident that we will forge ahead with our firm and constructive relations,” he added. —
