'UAE firm on balanced foreign policy'

ABU DHABI - The UAE yesterday reiterated that it remains committed to its permanent and wise policy and approach under the wise leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

In an address to the 4th General Assembly Meeting of the League of Asian Parliaments, being held in Manila, Philippines, Rashid Obeid Al Hufeiti, Second Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), who is heading the UAE delegation to the meeting, said that the UAE always calls for renunciation of violence, disputes and wars, and believes in dialogue as the best way to achieve justice and equality among peoples.

During a meeting held last evening by the assembly's committee on political issues, Al Hufeiti said the development and progress of any society cannot be achieved without the provision of job opportunities, peace and stability. He called for concerted efforts and cooperation for the peaceful resolution of conflicts, the combating of corruption and terrorism, and showing respect for the sovereignty of countries in the light of international laws, charters and norms.
