Gen. Shaikh Mohammed was speaking at a reception given to the country’s ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions sent to various countries and international organisations. The diplomats had called on Shaikh Mohammed to offer greetings on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region; Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser; Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foreign Minister; Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; and a number of senior officials were present at the reception.
Shaikh Mohammed said that foreign policy assumes a central role in the service of developmental process and provides it with a suitable ground for the construction of sustainable development through the establishment of balanced external relations by extending bridges of cooperation with the countries in the world.
He stressed the important role the ambassadors play within this integrated system and urged them to continue their effectiveness in promoting the country’s position regionally as well as on the Arab and international levels. —
