UAE completes 64 Pak water projects

The UAE Project to Assist Pakistan has announced the completion and delivery of 64 water projects at cost $5. 774 million (five million and 773, 000 US dollars) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and the South of Pakistan Region.

The move follows the directives by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to support the water sector in the regions and poor areas in Pakistan. The administration of the UAE Project to Assist Pakistan stressed in a statement that the value and importance of these projects which have been carried out in accordance with the directives of the UAE President for the people of remote villages and areas in Pakistan is to contribute to the development of infrastructure and human resources development.

The statement pointed out that the purpose of implementing these projects is to provide clean drinking waterto the areas which suffer from various health problems due to the pollution of available water and difficulty in accessing clean water. This led to the outbreak of serious illnesses in the community such as hepatitis, malaria and others.

It emphasised that 44 villages in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province benefit from water projects, while 20 villages benefit from the projects in the South of Wazirstan.

A number of key officials and citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and the South of Pakistan Region, hailed the initiatives the UAE President regarding the projects, citing the humanitarian aid and developmental support represented in terms of the educational, health, roads and bridges’ projects
