UAE chosen ‘role model’ for blood transfusion services

DUBAI — The World Health Organisation (WHO) has chosen the UAE as a role model for exceptional blood transfusion services and safety in the East Mediterranean region.

Based on the above, the UAE will provide a comprehensive report to the WHO on the achievements in the field of blood transfusion during the past 15 years in the country. The report will highlight the advanced technologies used in the UAE for blood transfusion.

The report will be delivered to the WHO today by the under-secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr Amin Al Amiri, who is also the director of the Department of Blood Transfusion and Research Services. Al Amiri is also the WHO’s director for the East Mediterranean region.
