This inaugural session was presided by Muhammed Saeed Al Mouhairi of the Municipality, Chairman of the current session.

At the beginning of the meeting, Badr Al Harahshi, Director of the Public Health Department of Abu Dhabi municipality, presented a proposal about an experiment carried out by Abu Dhabi Municipality regarding the privatisation of the solid waste sector.

This experiment, he said, was successfully applied recently. The members of the council of the Secretariat, consequently, approved this plan, to be used for privatisation of the solid waste sector. This will be implemented all over the UAE municipalities, he added.

As for the poultry industry in the UAE, the council discussed the proposals submitted by the Poultry Producers Union in UAE. These proposals are aimed at compensating the owners of the farms affected in the wake of the bird-flu scare from a special fund.
