UAE and UK in extradition agreement

ABU DHABI — The UAE and the UK have entered into three heads of agreements on extradition of criminals, mutual cooperation in criminal matters and in civil and commercial matters.

The agreements were signed in London yesterday by Yousif Al Awadhi, Assistant Under-Secretary for International Cooperation and Planning at UAE Ministry of Justice, and Robert Dean, Deputy Head of the British Mission in Abu Dhabi.

During their five-day talks, the two sides reviewed pending issues relating to extradition, capital punishment and recognition of verdicts passed by the courts in the two countries. The heads of agreements shall be submitted to the concerned authorities for ratification.
