UAE, Algeria to develop ties in all areas

ALGIERS — The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and President Abdel-Aziz Bouteflika of Algeria held a round of talks here yesterday.

President Bouteflika welcomed Shaikh Khalifa and his accompanying delegation, saying that the visit would contribute in enhancing cooperation between the two countries. Shaikh Khalifa lauded the strong fraternal bonds between the people of the two countries and reiterated UAE’s keenness to further develop ties in economic, investment, commercial, tourism and industrial fields.

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and expressed their mutual desire to develop them to serve the common interest of the two countries and their two brotherly peoples. They also expressed support to the joint investments and ventures in industrial, real estate, telecommunications, tourism and oil sectors.

The two sides stressed the importance of enhancing the role of joint committees to open new avenues for cooperation. The talks also covered current developments in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon. The two sides exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues.

They emphasised the need for a secure and stable Middle East, as well as the importance of resuming the peace process on all tracks and implementation of the international legitimacy’s resolutions and the Arab peace initiative.

The two sides also expressed denunciation of violence, extremism and terrorism in all its forms. Shaikh Khalifa also renewed the UAE’s firm stand and support to Algeria in facing terrorist acts which target innocent Algerians.

Bouteflika hosted a luncheon in honour of Shaikh Khalifa and his accompanying delegation. Present during the meeting and the luncheon were Minister of Presidential Affairs Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court Shaikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Government Sector Development Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs Ahmed Juma Al Za’abi, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chief of Executive Affairs Authority and the UAE Ambassador to Algeria Ahmed Mahmoud Al Hosni.
