The accident occurred at 11.55pm on the Al Ain-Abu Dhabi road in the Seeh Al Miyah area when the driver of a Land Cruiser collided head-on with an oncoming truck. An oil leak from the four-wheeler ignited on impact and the Cruiser burst into flames.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, an official source from the Al Ain Civil Defence Department, said that it was a horrific accident. The truck rammed into the Land Cruiser, and such was the force of impact that it continued to roll on, pulling the flaming Cruiser with it for almost one kilometre.

A source, who requested anonymity, said that a traffic police team rushed to the spot to investigate the accident and the civil defence department rushed to rescue the injured.

The two men died on the spot, the traffic police removed the bodies from the totally burnt car and transferred them to the Al Ain Hospital. The three women were taken to the Towam Hospital for treatment.
