The Pakistani foreman allegedly stole the steel rods and threatened to kill the second defendant, a Nepali, if the latter reported about him, according to a Lebanese engineer in the firm.
“When I discovered that the big load of steel rods was not in the site, I asked the second defendant about it. He alleged that the foreman stole the load from the site at night,” the engineer told the prosecutors. The worker alleged that the foreman threatened to kill him if he reported him to the company.
A Bangladeshi worker said during investigation that around 9pm on September 23, he saw four people moving the steel rods from the site to a truck. He thought it was part of their job.
A Pakistani crane driver alleged that the foreman asked him to remove the rods from a pit.
He was surprised to learn the following day that the stock was actually stolen.
