According to court records, while on duty at the Dubai International Airport (DIA) on September 27, 2007, the duo allegedly demanded money from one M.G in return for letting his brother, who had an entry ban, into the country.

M.G., 32, a plumber from Bangladesh, had gone on that day to the airport to receive his brother M.H.. He waited for nearly nine hours before deciding to return home.On his way back, he got a call from his brother saying that he was at the airport and his passport, ticket and visit visa had been seized by the authorities. When he went back to the airport to enquire from the Passport Section about the whereabouts of his brother, a man phoned him to say that being an airport staff he was willing to get his brother released in return for Dh3000.

M.G. told the caller that he did not have such a large sum. He then informed an officer in the Passport Section about the problem. Promptly, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers set a trap.

They tapped the conversation in which the caller agreed to reduce the amount to Dh2,000. The deal was struck and the Departure Section was fixed as rendezvous.

When the duo went to receive the money, CID officers pounced upon them. They were later referred to the Public Prosecution and charged with bribery.
