According to the case history, police received a complaint from a UAE national that a burglary had taken place at his residence, and that his car, some gold jewellery, personal family documents and some bank notes were stolen.

The police conducted a thorough search and took up investigations, which led to the defendant's house, where some of the stolen goods were found.

The accused, however, attempted to escape in the stolen car, but police caught up with him and arrested him. He then told them of his accomplice, who was also arrested, and the rest of the loot was found with him. The accomplice confessed to other robberies he committed in the area.

Both were referred to the Public Prosecution, which held them in custody and later referred them to court, which sentenced one of them to one year in jail and the other to one-and-half year imprisonment.

They appealed against the verdict and each was sentenced to one-year imprisonment.
