Records of the case, which came before the court on Monday, detail that one of the defendants — a 23-year-old man was arrested by Dubai Police when he presented for a medical check up at the Dubai Municipality Clinic instead of his friend, a 25-year-old.

The 25-year-old gave the medical forms and his passport to his friend and asked his friend to do the tests to get the certificate.

A UAE national technician, 24, told police that on May 12 this year the 23-year-old came in for a blood sample.

The technician said she noticed the photo on the forms was different to his features. She asked him if the forms belonged to him, but he did not answer.

When she asked him to give his passport, he handed over the passport of the applicant. However when the technician asked him to take the blood tests he responded fast and gave her his blood.

She also found that the X-rays had also been taken of the 23-year-old instead of the applicant, but X-ray technicians had not spotted the difference.

Both suspects were referred to the Naif police station.

During the police interrogation they allegedly confessed to the crime.
