The 40-year-old woman will be deported after serving her prison term.

The case dates back to March 15 last year when the defendant was arrested while transiting through Dubai International Airport. About 2,075 grammes of cocaine was found hidden in her underwear. A female police officer was ordered to search the defendant when it was noticed she was looking nervous.

In a separate case, a Pakistani visitor was also sentenced to 10 years in prison and paying a fine of Dh 50,000 for trying to smuggle in drugs. The Court of First Instance ordered his deportation after serving his prison term.

The visitor, in his fifties, was caught at the arrivals hall of the Dubai International Airport on June 22 last year after 75 capsules of heroin, weighing about half a kilo, were found in his possession.

He admitted having hidden the drugs in his stomach to deliver it for a sum of money. — mary@khaleejtiems.com
