The boy had gone swimming with his friends, but swam towards an unauthorised area where warning signs had been installed. The second victim, a 38-year-old man from Palestine, drowned at around 1pm at Al Khan beach. His body was recovered by the coast guards at 2.30pm, as well.

A police official said that the operations room received separate reports about the drowning of the two people. The police dispatched coastguards and Anjad patrol and immediately launched intensive searches.
