Two-day archiving course for municipal employees

DUBAI — A two-day special training course on documentation and archiving will be organised for Dubai Municipality staff on Saturday. The course is being conducted as part of the ongoing internal training programme of the civic body for the year 2006.

Ahmed Ibrahim Al Zarouni, Acting Head of Human Resources Development Section in the Personnel Department said the course titled ‘Basics and principles of documentation and archiving’ would be attended by a group of administrative support staff and secretaries from different departments of the municipality.

He said the course will provide the participants with the basic knowledge and skills that will help them organise and preserve the documents and information and retrieve them. It will also give them the skills for reducing paper in the offices.

Database

ABU DHABI — The Government of the Indian state of Punjab has taken the initiative to prepare a database of Non-Resident Indians (NRI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), according to a Press release of the Indian Embassy. The database is also being compiled through the NRI web portal http://www.nrizone.in. The embassy has asked NRIs from Punjab get them registered.

The Government of Punjab would also like to have a list of prominent Punjabi NRIs and PIOs who are contributing towards the social and economic development of the Indian community and are willing to contribute professionally, technically and financially towards the development of their own towns and villages in Punjab, the release added.

ADMS moves

ABU DHABI — The Abu Dhabi Malayalee Samajam (ADMS) will be shifting premises from Al Falah Street to a rented villa in Khalidiya on June 1, said ADMS president Dr Jyothish Kumar, at a Press conference yesterday.

“The new venue that provides ample space for parking, excellent ambience for the children and quite convenient for family get togethers will motivate the activities of (the) Samajam to a greater extent,” he said. The new building is located near the Sri Lankan embassy. At the Press conference addressed by the ADMS president, vice president PV ummer, general secretary RV Mohammed Kutty and treasurer Sebastain Cyril, the president said that there were plans to buy a plot of land in the city and construct a new building for the activities of the Samajam.

ZU graduation
