DUBAI — The Court of First Instance sentenced a plumber and an assistant mechanic each to life term for trading in marijuana.
The court also sentenced a worker to four-year imprisonment for using marijuana. The court ordered the deportation of the defendants, both of them Bangladeshis.
According to the arraignment sheet of the Public Prosecution, the plumber possessed 9.52 grams of marijuana for peddling. He also used narcotics.
The assistant mechanic possessed 335.6 grammes of marijuana for peddling.
A policeman told the prosecutors that he arrested a worker on June 12 last year for using drugs, who gave him information about the plumber, from whom he had bought it.
The Anti-Narcotics unit of the Dubai police set the plumber up by sending an undercover officer to buy drugs.
The plumber later told the Criminal Investigation Department officers that he had acquired the drugs form the assistant mechanic.
