The delegation, led by Najati koll Teebah, former Director of Ottoman's Archives, discussed with the centre's officials issues pertaining to cultural cooperation between the two countries and talked about the software and information systems utilised in classification and indexing of manuscripts.

Mr Teebah and the accompanying delegation visited the manuscript section and were briefed on the methods used in restoration and treatment of historical manuscripts.

The visiting delegation was impressed with the efforts of the centre in preserving the manuscripts and hailed the development of the cultural body. Mr Teebah highlighted the significance of the Ottoman Archives, one of the most important archives in the world. He said that it houses 200 million documents pointing to the fact that the Ottoman empire covered 40 countries.

Mr Teebah also expressed regret that most researchers seek information from the British or Russian archives and ignore the Ottoman archives thinking that it is not accessible. "However, the truth is that the archives are open to any researcher and students can benefit from their treasures," Mr Teebah said.
