Tuition fees for students of model schools fixed

DUBAI - The Dubai Educational Zone has fixed the tuition fees for the students of its model schools. They will be Dh5,000 for the first circle of the principle stage.

Dr Ayoub Badri, Director of Dubai Educational Zone, said that the fees should be paid in the beginning of the academic year in September. He said that educational zone would take measures to help parents in paying tuition fees in two instalments - the first instalment should be paid in September and the second in February.

Dr Ayoub said that parents would be allowed one month more to pay the fees after the end of the deadline. He said that parents have the right to get refunded all fees in case they transfer their children to some other schools. But the transfer must be made in the current month (September) for such refund.

Dr Badri added that parents would be able to draw 75 per cent of the first instalment of the fees if they want to transfer their children to another school in October.

On the other hand, Dr Badri said that parents would not have the rights to recover any amount of the fees if the students continued at schools until November.

He said parents would be refunded the second instalment in full if they shift their children in another schools by February. Parents will lose 25 per cent of the second instalment fees if they transfer their children to another schools before the end of March. If student continued at the schools till the first day of April, parents will not have right to recover any amount of the fees.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Education and Youth has limited the monthly rewards for the officers of model schools. Rewards for school administrative officers will be Dh2,500 for the director, Dh2,000 for the assistance of the director, Dh1,500 for the secretary and Dh1,500 for social workers.

Teaching staff will be rewarded monthly. These will be Dh2,000 for teachers, Dh1,000 for teachers of activities, Dh1,000 for officers of labs and nurses and Dh1,500 for the librarian. A bus inspector will be rewarded Dh600 monthly.

The Ministry of Education gave the managements of the schools the power to appoint the assistants such as accountants, public relation officers and administrators.

In addition, the school managements will be able to select and appoint part-time teachers.

Meanwhile, the Ajman Educational Zone will celebrate next Monday the opening of the Ajman Model School after the arrangements of receiving new students. Ajman Model School will receive students of grade one and grade two from Ajman and Um Al Quwain areas. Abdullah Obaid, Director of Ajman Educational Zone, said that ministry and educational zone had provided the school with all facilities, in addition, Ajman Educational Zone entered into contract with Emirates Transport for air-conditioned buses to transfer the students from Ajman and Um Al Quwain. He said, "We also have contract with a specialised company to supply students two meals (breakfast and lunch).
