Brig. Zafeen urged all drivers, especially trucks and heavy vehicle drivers, to exercise caution at congested areas and abide by traffic rules and regulations. He said violations by truck and heavy vehicle drivers were one of the main causes of traffic jams on Dubai’s roads.
The timings for the use of Dubai roads by trucks and other heavy vehicles during Ramadan have been changed to suit working hours of the government and private sectors, Brigadier Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Director of Dubai Traffic Police Department, said yesterday.
He said there had been terrible traffic congestion at peak hours as students go to and come back from school at almost the same time as employees of government departments and private sector companies leave for and come back from work.
“We had to increase traffic patrols on most roads to reduce traffic jams,” said Brg. Zafeen.
Trucks will not be allowed on any of Dubai roads from 7am to 9am and from 2pm to 4pm, and from 5pm to 8:30pm. However, the timings on the Shaikh Zayed Road will remain unchanged.
