Cars coming from Baniyas Street press their way into the Yellow Box at Al Maktoum Street junction, even as the signal turns from green to red. This happens mostly between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, and this causes traffic jam in Al Maktoum Street junction.

Drivers who are crossing the junction from Banyas Street should in normal course wait unless they are sure they can reach the other end in time, and not get stuck in the middle.

Failure to observe this rule is what creates avoidable traffic jam in Al Mktourm Street. This is no fault of the traffic system, but purely of drivers who do not gauge whether they can reach the other end without being stuck in the middle, as lights change.

Motorists who frequent the route hope the police will do something about it.
