Time to crack down on errant drivers
A STATISTICAL analysis conducted by the Abu Dhabi traffic and police patrols department has revealed that one of the main reasons for occurrence of several accidents is the tendency of drivers to enter the main roads without properly checking the movement of other vehicles.
The analysis which was carried out over a week's time, also found that drivers do not take the precaution of ensuring that there is sufficient space between their vehicles and to top it all, they have the habit of overtaking dangerously from the right side of roads. All these violations, in fact, are considered a clear infringement of traffic rules.
Therefore, we call upon the concerned authority to increase the number of police patrols to track the careless drivers. Indeed regardless of whether accidents take place or not, drivers who breach the traffic rules must be stopped from doing so with immediate effect by drawing their attention to the violations and putting them on record with noting on their driving licences.
